Frequently Asked Questions

How do I create an Atom Translate account?

Open the app and go to the Profile tab, then tap Sign Up. You can create an account with an email and password, or continue with Google. An account is optional — the app works fully offline without one, but signing in enables cloud sync, community decks, and notifications.

I forgot my password, how do I reset it?

On the sign-in screen, tap Forgot password? and enter the email address associated with your account. We'll send you a link to reset it. If you originally signed in with Google, use Continue with Google instead — there's no separate password to reset.

How do I sync my data across devices (phone, tablet, computer)?

Sign in with the same account on each device. Once signed in, your folders, words, and progress sync automatically over your internet connection. If a device is offline, your local changes are saved and sync the next time it reconnects.

Can I use the app offline?

Yes. Atom Translate is offline-first: your vocabulary, folders, and study progress are stored locally on your device and work without an internet connection or an account. You only need a connection for automatic translation, cloud sync, notifications, and community features.

How do I create a folder/section for new words?

From the Library tab, tap the + button and choose New Folder. Inside a folder you can add sections to group related words — for example, by topic or difficulty. Open a section and use + to start adding words.

How do translated words get added to my vocabulary?

When you translate a word or phrase, you'll see an Add to Vocabulary option — tap it and choose which folder and section to save it to. You can also add words manually, without translating them, by typing the original and the translation yourself.

What are word mastery levels (new / learning / learned) and how do they change?

Every word starts as New. As you review it correctly in study modes (flashcards, quiz, writing, matching), it moves to Learning, and eventually to Learned once you've recalled it correctly enough times in a row. Getting a word wrong moves it back a level so it comes up for review again sooner.

What is spaced repetition and how do I enable it?

Spaced repetition schedules reviews of each word at increasing intervals based on how well you know it, so you spend more time on words you struggle with and less on ones you've already mastered. It's built into the study modes automatically — just study regularly and the review schedule adjusts itself per word.

How do I publish my word deck to the community?

Open the folder or section you want to share, tap the menu, and choose Publish to Community. You'll be asked to set a category, difficulty level, and tags before it goes public. You can unpublish it at any time from the same menu.

How do I clone someone else's deck?

Browse or search the Community tab, open a deck, and tap Clone. This adds a private copy to your own Library with its own separate progress tracking — changes you make don't affect the original deck or its author.

How do I export or import my vocabulary (CSV)?

Go to Settings → Data and tap Export to CSV to save all your words to a file you can back up or open in a spreadsheet. Use Import from CSV on the same screen to bring words back in, using the same column format as the exported file.

Can I import a set I made on Quizlet?

Yes. Save your Quizlet set as a PDF (Quizlet's Print option, keeping the Table layout), then in Atom Translate open the folder you want to import into and tap ⋯ → Import from Quizlet to pull the words in automatically — this step runs in the phone app, even if you created the PDF on a computer. See the full walkthrough in our Quizlet import tutorial.

How do I delete my account and all associated data?

Email [email protected] from the address associated with your account and request account deletion. We'll delete or anonymize your account and associated data within a reasonable timeframe, up to 30 days. Locally stored data on your device is removed when you uninstall the app.

I found a translation error, where do I report it?

Email [email protected] with the original text, the language pair, and the translation you received. If you can, let us know which translation provider was selected in Settings — it helps us track down the source of the error faster.

The app is misbehaving / crashing, what should I do?

Try closing and reopening the app, and make sure you're on the latest version. If the problem continues, email [email protected] with a description of what happened, your device model, and your OS version — a screenshot or screen recording helps us fix it faster.

Delete Your Account

You can request deletion of your Atom Translate account and all associated data at any time.

To delete your account, send an email to [email protected] with the subject line "Delete My Account", from the email address associated with your account. We will process your request and permanently delete your account within 30 days.

What gets deleted:

  • Your profile information (name, email, avatar)
  • All folders, sections, and words you created
  • Your learning progress and statistics
  • Any public decks you shared with the community

Please note: if you've shared a public deck that other users have cloned to their own library, copies already saved by other users will not be affected by your account deletion.
